Fleas

What are fleas?

Fleas are small, wingless insects that are known for their blood-sucking habits. They are commonly found on pets, such as cats and dogs, but they can also infest homes and buildings.

Fleas are attracted to warm-blooded animals, such as humans and their pets, and they feed on their blood for nourishment. They are also attracted to moist environments, such as damp soil or areas with high humidity.

Fleas are thought to have originated in the region of the world that includes present-day Europe and Asia, and they have been around for millions of years. Over time, they have spread to other parts of the world, including the Americas and Australia.

There are many different species of fleas, but the most common ones found on pets and in homes include the cat flea, dog flea, and human flea. These pests are known to carry diseases, such as bubonic plague and murine typhus, and they can cause skin irritation and other health problems for both humans and animals.

To prevent fleas from infesting a home or building, it is important to keep pets free of fleas by using preventative measures, such as flea collars or medication. It is also important to regularly vacuum and clean the home, as well as maintain a dry and well-ventilated environment.

If a flea infestation does occur, it is important to contact a pest control professional to properly and safely eliminate the pests.
